NC22.1       Open Coast CMP – Project Update

Mr Christopher Beadle – Water Technology provided a presentation in relation to the Coastal Management Program (CMP) for the Shoalhaven Open Coastline and Jervis Bay. The presentation will be distributed to Councillors and Committee Members and covered the following key aspects:

·         Overview:

o   40 Council managed beaches & adjoining headlands

o   Coastal hazard risks to assets & infrastructure

o   Environmental, social, and cultural heritage risks

·         Progress Snapshot:

o   Inspections of erosion affected beaches & at-risk infrastructure

o   Engagement with Traditional Owner groups

o   Supplement existing coastal hazard mapping

o   Risk assessment of public assets

o   Beach Rotation as a coastal process on Shoalhaven beaches

o   Natural erosion and recovery cycles

·         Stage 3 – Identify & Evaluate Options to address risks – already started

·         Stage 4 – Development of the Open Coast CMP and Jervis Bay CMP

NC22.2       Lower Shoalhaven River CMP - Project Update

Ms Emma Maratea – Rhelm provided a presentation in relation to the Lower Shoalhaven River Estuary Coastal Management Program. The presentation will be distributed to Councillors and Members and covered the following key aspects:

·         Lower Shoalhaven River CMP:

o   Study Area

o   Scope of works for the CMP

o   Stage 2 vulnerability studies - progress

o   Project timeline / what’s next

·         Progress Update:

o   Boating study

o   Water quality monitoring evaluation and review

o   Bank erosion and riparian assessment

o   Coastal and tidal inundation study

o   Berry’s Canal morphological assessment

GENERAL BUSINESS

 

Mr James Ruprai – Director City Development thanked the members present and outlined in particular that CMP’s are a statutory process and science and data driven.

 

It was noted that there will be a number of Community information sessions coming in the near future and all were encouraged to subscribe to the Get Involved page to stay informed.
