David Hojem – Unit Manager Waste Services handed out brochures in relation to on-call waste pick up service and addressed the meeting and advised the following:

·         It is understandable that not all members of the public can get to the waste depot

·         Council has an “on-call” Household bulky & Garden waste pick up service

·         The pickup service can be booked in and paid for over the phone.

·         There is a criteria that needs to be met to utilise the pickup service.

Council offers workshops in Spring and Autumn for home composting, held at Council.

Conservation volunteers such as Bushcare groups etc only work on public land, not private land. Community groups and volunteer groups such as Lions etc may be able to assist.

IA19.41      Update on Actions - November 2019

The Group held a discussion and made the following comments in relation to item s on the Action Table:

·         IA19.18 – Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group has met and formed working Groups and will invite and meet with those interested members from IAAG. Complete and remove.

·         IA19.25 – Complete and remove

·         IA19.26 – Annette Pham addressed the meeting and advised that the workshop was informative and strategic. The PAMP explained what priorities are in relation to footpaths.

Staff advised that when Community Groups approach Council wanting to build a footpath, Council recognises this as a cost effective outcome.

·         IA19.31 – Complete and remove

·         IA19.39 – Staff met with Annette Pham and asked for the Huskisson Woollamia Community Voice to attend and asked for costing. Annette has received a verbal costing of $58,000. With a funding gap of $37,000.

Peter Herald – Unit Manager Building Services will now be looking after this matter going forward.

Tom Dimec has had conversations with Annette and other parties and have identified that it is preferable for a stand-alone building instead of retrofitting two 2 accessible facilities in the current location.

·         IA19.38 – Still waiting on a response, remain open

·         IA19.5 – This matter is in progress and currently developing the training module. The IAAG to receive information and an overview of the training. Remain open.

·         IA19.20 – by 2023 all buses within NSW are required to be accessible – Complete and remove

·         IA19.27 – Kylie addressed the meeting and advised that herself along with staff and other interested parties conducted a free sweep from the Train Station to Boongaree, and one in a wheelchair via a different route. Completed and remove.

·         IA19.33 – Complete and remove. Theo advised that there is no disabled car space in the cemetery. Requested that Staff report on the installation of two (2) disabled car spaces at the cemetery and a path down to the lots or footpath access off ocean street.

Clr White advised that the dirt carpark is illegal and will be stopped. Council will be installing kerb and gutter on Ocean Street.

GENERAL BUSINESS

 

IA19.52      Additional Item - Noah's Challenge - Support

Clr Digiglio addressed the meeting and advised that on the Weekend a Community Event was held, Noah’s Challenge. Feedback was received that not many people were aware of the Inclusion and Access Advisory Group (IAAG) of Council. Clr Digiglio suggested that next year the IAAG hold a stall at the event.

 

RECOMMENDATION (Clr Digiglio / Theo Bagou)

That:

1.      Staff investigate and provide a report on how the Inclusion and Access Advisory Group can hold a stall at the next Noah’s Challenge;

2.      The report also include ways that the IAAG can promote their purpose and engage more effectively within the community.

IA19.53      Additional item - Investigate Improving Beach Access at Tilbury Cove and Ocean Street, Culburra

Annette Pham addressed the meeting and advised that she had received representations from members of the public in relation to accessing the beach at Tilbury Cove and Ocean Street, Culburra.

 

RECOMMENDATION (Annette Pham / Theo Bagou)

That Staff investigate and provide a report on the accessibility of beaches at Tilbury Cove and Ocean Street, Culburra.

IA19.54      Additional item - Plantation Point Playground Proposal

Annette Pham addressed the meeting seeking support for an all-inclusive playground at Plantation Point.

It was noted that Council is currently seeking survey feedback in relation to upgrades at Plantation Point. The Link to this is below:

That Staff provide a report with updates on potential upgrades at Plantation Point Reserve, including a summary of the Community Consultation outcome.

IA19.48      Additional Item - Feedback on Infrastructure - Tourism Taxes and Levies

Annette Pham addressed the meeting and advised that the Shoalhaven is lacking in infrastructure such as toilets and footpaths etc. Annette suggested that its time to re-visit implementing an environmental levy or tourism tax to help fund new infrastructure.

Staff responded and advised that implementing a bed tax on accommodation providers is not the only solution and that Council needs to look at all aspects and impacts of Tourism and all commercial businesses.

Coralie Bell – Acting Section Manager Recreation, community and Culture advised that the Shoalhaven Tourism Advisory Group will continue to review the impacts of Tourism and seek feedback on taxes and levies.

IA19.55      Additional Item - (IA19.33) - Disabled car space at the Mollymook Cemetery

The Group held a conversation in relation to item IA19.33 and identified that there is no disabled car space at the Mollymook Cemetery.

 

RECOMMENDATION (Theo Bagou / Clr White)

That Staff investigate and report back on the feasibility of providing two (2) disabled car spaces at the Mollymook Cemetery and a path to the lots or a footpath access off Ocean Street, Mollymook.

IA19.51      Additional Item - Thank you Council Staff - Brad Davis

Brad Davis advised that this was his last meeting attending the Inclusion and Access Advisory Group, and introduced Peter Herald who will be attending meetings.

Clr White thanked Brad Davis for his work and support to the Group.
