That the Shoalhaven Sports Board
1. Be informed of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Regional Sport and Active Recreation Plan consultation period which runs until 5.00pm Friday 19 July 2018.
2. Submit a submission to the Office of Sport from the Shoalhaven Sports Board.
1. Adopt the recommendation
Implications: This will ensure that the sporting community of the Shoalhaven has a voice in relation to the regional plans
2. Not adopt the recommendation and provide an alternative resolution.
Implications: This may result in the Shoalhaven sporting community not having input into the regional plan.
The Office of Sport is seeking input into the recently released Illawarra and Shoalhaven Regional Sport and Active Recreation Plan.
The plan represents a new approach to collaboration, planning and delivery of sport and active recreation activities and infrastructure and has been developed in collaboration with key stakeholders in each region and follow on from consultation throughout 2017 and early 2018.
The plan provides recommendations for activities and strategies that could be implemented in each region to support grass roots to elite level sport.
These strategies within each plan focus on outcomes that support improved participation, streamlined performance pathways, access to fit-for-purpose facilities, the delivery of valued sporting events and improved collaboration within the sector.
The plan provides a list of possibilities which will be prioritised by each region’s Sport and Active Recreation Planning and Delivery Group over the next five years.
Feedback will guide the delivery of the plan and the consultation period for feedback closes at 5.00pm on 19 July 2018.
It is recommended that the Sports Board set up a sub committee to review the document and make a submission on behalf of the Sports Board.
