Hayley Lyon – Digital Business Development and Strategy Director (The Project Factory – Way to Blue) will give a presentation about the Youth Employment Innovation Challenge – a tool designed to bring vocational opportunities and jobs to those aged 15-24 in rural NSW.

Purpose and delegated authority
To represent the interests and views of young people to Council and the Community in accordance with the delegation set out below:
· To advise and recommend to Council staff on matters of an operational nature and implement policy relating to the interests and views of young people and/or within adopted budgets;
· To recommend to Council on policy matters and other matters not able to be delegated by Council;
· To provide recommendations to Council on Strategic and Financial directions relating to Youth in the Shoalhaven;
· To commit expenditure up to the limits determined by Council, including grant funding.

YA18.1 Berry District Park - Liliana Hutchinson |

Ms Liliana Hutchinson – Social Infrastructure Planner, provided an update on the Berry District Park (the park in Berry that includes the Tennis Court and Football Field). The Berry District Park was a strategy that the Berry Community have created to combat the negative economy impact that the new Berry Bypass has created. If the Youth Advisory Committee members have any ideas for the Berry District Park please communicate them to Ms Liliana Hutchinson. The draft concept design has not yet been finalised but a basic outline of what it will look like was tabled. The park will include the following: · A bike pump track made of wood · A dirt learn to ride facility · A nature based play area · Water play and misting · Half court for basketball and netball · Dog off-leash area · An extension of the skate park – to be designed by the users · A bike wash station · Flying fox 25 March 2018 a Children’s Consultation Day will be held to gain feedback from children aged 0-18 years where images of the proposed District Park will be shown to the children and the children will pick the design they prefer. All Shoalhaven Youth are encouraged to participate. It was advised that by the end of the current financial year it is hoped that construction would have commenced. |

The Terms of Reference will be sent to the Youth Advisory Committee Members. It was agreed that Mikayla Barnes would contact the University of Wollongong Shoalhaven Branch to enquire about running a stall at O Week to try and recruit uni students to become community members of the Youth Advisory Committee. |

Youth Week is celebrating youth nationally and their contribution to community. This year Youth Week will be funded through the State Government and Council. This year’s theme is Unity through Diversity. |

General Business
YA18.3 Additional Item - Ulladulla High School - Things Going Well in the Community |
Ulladulla High School students thanked Council for the All Inclusive Playground – Livvs Place at Mollymook Beach and commented on the success. The students also thanked Council for the new bike path near Froggs Holla. The students also thanked Council for the upgrade to the sporting facilities in West Ulladulla including the new netball courts which are more accessible and inclusive. The Ulladulla High School students also mentioned the ‘bike bus’ currently being trialled by six students at the moment. |

YA17.23 International Youth Day Awards 2017 Discussions |

Donna Corbyn expressed Council’s appreciation and acknowledged Shoalhaven High School students that undertook the duties of Master of Ceremonies and facilitated the event in November 2017. The Committee discussed the awards originated based on the Bay and Basin Awards and were created in the same format for Shoalhaven wide awards, during International Youth Day Awards, this was done last year. Awards included: · The Challenge and Change Award – Sponsor to be secured and announced · The Good Neighbour Awards – Sponsor to be secured and announced · The Positive Youth Award – Sponsor to be secured and announced · The Community Citizenship Award – Sponsor to be secured and announced · The Inspiration Award – Sponsor to be secured and announced The purpose of the update is to confirm the Youth Advisory Committee would like to go ahead with this again for 2018. |

Purpose / Summary
To advise the Youth Advisory Committee of the applications for membership from Hannah Schofield and Pallas Refimaha.
That Council: 1. Appoint Ms Hannah Schofield and Ms Pallas Refimaha as community members to the Youth Advisory Committee. 2. Write to Ms Schofield and Ms Refimaha to notify them of their appointment and invite them to all future meetings.

Background
At its meeting on 7 February 2018 the Youth Advisory Committee declared the Community Member positions vacant.
Applications for membership have since been received from TAFE Nowra and Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre, putting forward Ms Hannah Schofield and Ms Pallas Refimaha respectively as community members.
