Status of RFS Projects
IEMC Albatross Road
Council has written to NSW Crown Lands requesting a reconsideration of a previous determination that Dog Track Road needs to be acquired and compensation paid.
This delay in resolving the road status is not impacting on RFS operation.
West Nowra Rural Fire Station
Work is in progress in relation to the construction of the IEMC pad mount transformer and is planned to be completed before the end of 2017.
Timing of this project is not impacting on operation of the Brigade premises.
Kangaroo Valley Brigade Additions
The floor level of the current brigade building is below the current flood planning level and therefore does not comply with current planning requirements.
Essentially it is not desirable for an emergency response building to be subject to flooding as it may compromise operational requirements
The issue has been reported to Council’s Ordinary meeting on 28 November 2017 to consider varying this requirement and a verbal response may be able to be provided at this month’s meeting .
Shoalhaven Heads Brigade Extensions
A DA was lodged on 29 September 2017. Council is awaiting a response back from NSW Crown Land in relation to consent for legal access across adjoining Crown Land reserves that provides access to the building from Shoalhaven Heads Road .
Kioloa Brigade Extensions
Development consent was granted on 9 November 2017 and a determination is currently waiting on the Construction Certificate. Subject to funding being committed works should be able to be completed in 2018 .
Tabourie Brigade Extensions
Council is awaiing a determination from NSW Crown Lands in relation to the gazetted use of the reserve to enable use for the purposes of an RFS Brigade .
Broughton Vale/Berry - New Brigade Building
The site on North Street Berry has been secured in accordance with previous Council resolutions. The development site is a closed road reserve and investigations have identified that fill is required to increase the height of the site to comply with the flood planning level. Concept design and a detailed cost estimate has been completed.
In the event that funding is not available to proceed to contruction, it is recommended that the project still proceed with detailed design.
